A woman bends over her flowers

A gentle portrait in which the flowers carry most of the colour.

Where the colour is

In Spanish Autumn, a dark-haired woman lowers her face towards a large bouquet. A red shawl with a long fringe falls over her arms, and the grey background keeps everything quiet around her.

The flowers are the brightest part of the picture, orange, red and white blooms pressed against her pale blouse. Below them, her dark skirt melts into the shadowy ground, so your eye stays on her hands, her face and the bouquet. The fringe of the shawl is sewn in fine vertical lines, a delicate edge around its broader shapes.

A small piece to see up close

At 23 cm wide by 27 cm high, this is one of the smaller pieces in the collection, and it is best seen up close. Rosi sewed it with 100% DMC threads, and it is photographed with a cream mount inside a brown and gold-coloured frame.

For a bedroom or a reading corner

Small, warm and a little wistful, it would look lovely on a bedroom wall, beside a dressing table or in a reading corner where you can stand close to it.

Small does not mean quick. Each flower and every thread of the fringe was placed by hand.
